This chapter describes what products and activities are (and are not) included in the system and implementation. Next to the initial implementation scope, this chapter also covers knowledge transfer and what additional training can be offered on top of the five day implementation.

Included activities and products

AVEVA Insight

(required, license included)

  • Configuring the assets and hierarchy according to ISA-88 standards;

  • Configuring extended properties using EMS metadata standards;

  • Configuring 2 example dashboards for real-time analysis.

AVEVA BI Gateway

(required, license included)

  • Deploying the predefined EMS ETL model;

  • Validating the model output in Azure SQL Database;

  • Data validation tests (documented) describing data transformation.

Tableau or PowerBI

(required, license not included*)

  • Loading the data from the BI Gateway database into the BI-tool and link it to the predefined EMS calculations;

  • Configuring the data set refresh schedule;

  • Configuring 4 standard dashboards: daily, periodic, KPI-Report and asset dashboard;

  • Optional: Configuring 1 custom dashboard based on customer request (limited to maximum of 4 hours implementation time, additional services can be optionally ordered);

  • Optional: Formatting the dashboards by adding customer logo and color scheme.

The customer is required to buy their own PowerBI Cloud or Tableau Online licenses. In case of PowerBI the customer should have at least one PowerBI Premium license for a single user. In the case of Tableau you need at least one Tableau creator license for a single user. The most important reason for having these licenses under your own administration is that it is easier to upscale and add users to the system. The EMS data set and dashboards can also be deployed in an on-premise instance of PowerBI or Tableau. If an on-premise instance is preferred, please contact us to discuss the possibilities. Remember that this potentially limits the analytical capabilities (for example, multi-site analysis or dashboard performance).

EMS Dashboard User Training

  • The goal of this training is to teach the end-users what software they have, how it works and how it should be used: navigating dashboards, set filter conditions, create alerts, subscribe to personalized views and spot anomalies;

  • The training takes 3-4 hours and has a maximum of 10 attendees.

  • Travel & Living is always excluded in the offers

Knowledge transfer

Knowledge transfer is an essential part of every EMS implementation project. During the implementation activities, end-users are involved in every step of the process. The goal is to make the users as self-reliant as possible. After the implementation, they should be able to:

  • Understand the different functional components of the EMS solution to know what analysis can be done at which part of the solution;

  • Use the standard dashboards for data analysis;

  • Understand how KPIs are calculated and what source data they are based on;

  • Add new data (tags) to the system so that they can be used in the dashboards;

  • Validate data in the dashboards and troubleshoot on potential issues.

Excluded activities and products

All the below-mentioned products and actions are not included within the product and implementation scope. In case it is requested, Analytics for Industry can provide advice and assistance on all items. This requires an extension of the 5-day implementation scope. For this, a custom offer must be made.

Products

  • Any on-premise software and/or licenses for capturing and storage of data coming from the physical sensors and devices;

  • PowerBI or Tableau licenses (as mentioned above );

  • Any data publishing software tool that is not the AVEVA Insight Publisher or Plant SCADA Connector;

  • AVEVA Insight's integrated add-ons for AI and ML (except for AVEVA BI Gateway).

Activities

  • Configuring automatic data publishing from the industrial automation systems or other sources to AVEVA Insight. The customer is required to provide the data to the system;

  • Connecting to and/or adding any external data (for example, ERP data or excel sheets);

  • Adding extra measurements/calculations to the dashboards outside the standard product scope;

  • Configuring user roles and permissions in the BI-tool of the customer. The customer must administrate this himself. Analytics for Industry can provide best practices on a best-effort-basis;

  • Additional training on AVEVA Insight, AVEVA BI Gateway, Tableau or PowerBI.

Additional trainings

A basic dashboard user training is included in the implementation project. Additional training can be added to the project and provided multiple times. If feasible, the data set & dashboards of the customer are used in the trainings. By doing this, the end users will feel more comfortable about the data they are trained on and can better understand the capabilities of the software.

Analytics For Industry can provide the following additional training:

  • Additional EMS Dashboard User Training

    • Duration = 3-4 hours (max. 10 attendees)

    • Students only need a computer with an internet connection

    • Extra training (for a new site or new users)

  • EMS Data Analyst Basics Training

    • Duration = 1 day or 2x half days (max. 7 attendees)

    • Can be given in either PowerBI or Tableau (on own EMS data set)

    • Students only need a computer with internet connection. AVEVA Select takes care of the (virtual) training machines and licenses.

    • This training will teach the basics of creating dashboards for their own analytical needs. In addition, it teaches the main functionality of either Tableau or PowerBI. After the training, students should be able to create their own visualizations, make changes to existing ones, create new calculations and publish their self-created content to the sharing environment (Tableau Online or PowerBI Cloud).

  • AVEVA BI Gateway Product Training

    • Duration = 2 days (max. 7 attendees)

    • Students only need a computer with an internet connection. AVEVA Select takes care of the (virtual) training machines and licenses.

    • This training aims to understand how the BI Gateway works when to use it and how to build a model. In this training a demo data set is used. Students will gradually develop their own BI Gateway model while the required knowledge is provided accordingly.

  • AVEVA Insight Product Training

    • Duration = 4 hours (max. 10 attendees)

    • Students only need a computer with an internet connection.

    • This training will cover the basics on how to use AVEVA Insight functionality. Students will learn how to create real-time dashboards, configure alerts and use the REST API. Next to this the EMS design will be covered in perspective to the AVEVA Insight product (how extended properties, assets, API keys etc. are configured)

For additional training requests, please contact Analytics for Industry.
